Further to your email to Deb. District 7120 is upper state New York up to the Great Lakes. They have a strong friendship exchange program and each year host a number of incoming District Governors from around the world in early January (when the snow is the deepest) prior to the International Training Assembly in San Diego. We were there January 2013 along with 17 other incoming DGs and their partners for about 8 days, staying with 2 different families. At times we undertook joint activities with other visitors, other times we just went with the locals.
The exchange envisaged would be for 2 weeks in our District next February with the opportunity for us to return the visit in summer/Autumn 2016... Each visitor will ideally have 3 hosts, for 5 days, 4 days and 5 days. Hosts could be involved for 1 or more periods of 4 or 5 days. Visitors could move anywhere within the District depending on availability of hosts. I envisage we would organise a common meeting for all visitors with local Rotarians at some stage through the visit but it would be up to individuals/clubs to organise an itinerary for their visitors the rest of the time. This could include a club meeting. I would suggest that several hosts/visitors joining together for some visits, barbeques etc will ensure there is nothing onerous about the program.
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and look forward to getting back at some stage through the summer, after being hosted for part of our visit on the banks of Lake Ontario.
At this stage I do not need an absolute commitment but I need indications of interest as soon as possible to enable D7120 to start to make some plans. If you have any questions feel free to phone me on 06 363 7102 evenings.
